“You’re Beautiful!” Cancer Event Raises $50,714

Denton, TX. ‘ The 11th Annual “You’re Beautiful!” Benefit and Style show was held on Friday, January 31st, 2014 at UNT’s Gateway Center.  Net proceeds from this year’s event, benefiting the American Cancer Society, totaled $50,714.  Since the inception of this local event, it has raised $457,183 to help save lives.

“You’re Beautiful!” originated in 2004 with the purpose to celebrate local cancer survivors, remember those who have battled cancer, and to raise funds for cancer research.  It is a rare exception to find anyone whose life has not been touched by cancer as is evident by the tremendous support for this annual event.

Proceeds were raised through underwriting, ticket sales, a concierge competition at the event, and the sale of raffle tickets.  Sixteen local survivors modeled for the event wearing lovely outfits provided by local retailers.  Honorary Chairpersons for the event were U.S. Congressman, Dr. Michael Burgess, State Senator, Jane Nelson, and State Representative, Myra Crownover.

“We are just thrilled with the outpouring of love and support our wonderful community gives as this truly is a celebration of life.   We are so thankful to the citizens and businesses who give so generously and to a dedicated group of volunteers who work diligently for months to help make this event a success”,  stated  Lucy Huff, co-chair of this year’s event.

The American Cancer Society is a nationwide organization dedicated to the elimination of cancer, preventing cancer, saving lives, and diminishing suffering for cancer victims through research, education, advocacy, and service.
