Its summertime and food donations have experienced a sharp drop at CCA (Christian Community Action) in Lewisville. Please consider bringing non-perishable items and canned goods with you the next time you visit DATCU in Flower Mound or Lewisville.

DATCU Credit Union announces the addition of Sheryl Jackson to its Business Development Department. Jackson recently joined the DATCU staff after working numerous years in the Healthcare sector. Born in La Jolla, California, Jackson has resided in the Denton area the past three years, and is a recent graduate of Texas Women's University. She will be participating in the 2008-2009 Class of Leadership Lewisville and is participating in the TWU Leadership Institute.



Vest Completes Executive Management ProgramVest Completes Executive Management Program

Melanie Vest, Vice President Comptroller of DATCU Credit Union, graduated from the Southwest CUNA Management School on July 23, 2008. The three-year program for credit union executives was held at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, TX.

The school, presented by the multiple state credit union trade associations and accredited by the Credit Union National Association (CUNA), is designed to develop credit union leaders at the speed of change. The primary requirement for graduation is completion of a comprehensive, three-year strategic business plan for the student’s own credit union, along with over 180 classroom hours.

Vest has been with DATCU Credit Union since 2002.

DME and Interfaith Ministries of Denton, Inc Partner to Supply Fans for Customers in Need

Denton Municipal Electric and Interfaith Ministries of Denton, Inc. have partnered to provide box fans to customers in need in the Denton community. The box fans, sponsored by DME, are available at the Interfaith Ministries of Denton, Inc. offices located at 109-A W. Sycamore.

To receive a box fan, DME customers may phone Interfaith Ministries at (940) 565-5479 or may come by the Interfaith Office. Priority will be given to those with elderly or medically fragile household members. Picture identification and a copy of a current DME bill will be required of all fan recipients.


DATCU to Open in AubreyDATCU Now Open in Aubrey

DATCU has opened a branch location in Aubrey. Located at 919 Hwy 377 South, the eighth DATCU location is a full service facility including drive through teller service, real estate loans, insurance, an ATM and a variety of additional services and products.

Don Richmond, a resident of the Aubrey/Pilot Point area since 1997, is the Branch Manager. Don has worked in the banking industry for over 20 years and in finance at the local Ford dealership. Don has been active in the community as a former Director for the Pilot Point Chamber of Commerce, member and past president of the Kiwanis club, former treasurer for the Youth Sports Association and member of the Campus Improvement Committee for Pilot Point ISD.

Justin Hess, currently at DATCU's South branch in Denton, was promoted to Assistant Branch Manager. Hess began as a teller with DATCU in 2005 and since has been promoted to PSR (Personal Service Representative) before his promotion to Assistant Branch Manager. In addition to Richmond and Hess, the Aubrey branch will have five employees on staff, one of those being bilingual to assist our Spanish speaking members.

The Aubrey Branch Ribbon Cutting was held on August 11 by the Aubrey Chamber of Commerce.

Kay Schroeder, Vice President of Human ResourcesSchroeder graduates from Leadership Denton

Kay Schroeder, Vice President of Human Resources, graduated from Leadership Denton on April 25, 2008.  Leadership Denton sponsored by Denton Chamber of Commerce is a program that lasts nine months and focuses on leadership in the Denton community.  Participants learn about city, county and state government as well as economic development.  Schroeder and classmates completed a promotional DVD for the Denton Alliance Airport to use for prospective businesses interested in the Denton area.  Schroeder began working for DATCU in 1996.  She is currently the President of North Texas SHRM and a board member of the UNT Career Advisory Board.

Wise County Branch Grand OpeningWise County Branch Grand Opening

DATCU held a ribbon cutting on Thursday, April 3, to celebrate the Wise County branch grand opening in Decatur. The Grand Opening festivities began early in the day and ended in the evening with a catered fajita dinner, a Mariachi Band and door prize drawings.

The new 4400 square foot Austin Stone branch is a full service facility including drive through teller service, real estate loans, insurance, and a variety of additional products and services.

Terry Everett, Wise County Branch Manager, and the rest of the Decatur staff invite you to come by and allow them to serve you at the new branch located at 600 W. Ford Street in Decatur.


TWU College for a DayTWU College for a Day

DATCU Credit Union sponsored TWU College for a Day on Thursday, April 17.  Borman Elementary and Newton Rayzor Elementary fifth grade students spent the day at TWU to get a taste of college.  Students were encouraged to make good grades, stay in school, and go to college for a better future.

Winners were selected based on an over-all company survey, which highlighted the perks and benefits DATCU provides, and the employee survey, which gave employees the opportunity to rate their employer. DATCU will travel to Austin on Friday, January 25, to attend the awards ceremony. Governor Rick Perry will present the honors to winning companies. The results will appear in the February edition of Texas Monthly magazine.
