I can honestly say in 35 years I’ve never worked at an organization that works so well together in a collaborative way to serve. From the Board of Directors to the management team to the front line staff, I’ve never seen such a commitment to serve the members/customers, the employees and the credit union. It may seem hokey to say it feels like ‘family’, but to me it is family and the past nine years have been the best of my career.
- Dale E. Kimble - President / CEO
I started at DATCU 13 years ago as a part-time teller while I was attending UNT. The position was perfect for me while I was going to school….I didn’t have to work late evenings or long weekends, and the pay was much better than other “college” jobs. I worked in the drive-thru for almost three years and loved it!
When I graduated from college, DATCU had an opening for a human resources assistant, and one of my co-workers thought I would be a good fit. I had no idea what was involved, but the position sounded like “fun.” What a great move it turned out to be! I love my job and the credit union. Throughout the years, I have been given the opportunity to learn so much and have advanced in my position….I am currently the Vice President of Human Resources.
I am so grateful for the opportunities and the benefits that the credit union offers, but, and I know it sounds so corny, but I love the family environment the most. This truly is my second family, and I know they’re here to cheer me on and offer support in any way possible!
- Kay Schroeder - Vice President, Human Resources
I started at DATCU as a part-time teller while going to school. I have been given the opportunity to be a personal service representative, and now an assistant branch manager. I recommend DATCU to all my friends because of the excellent benefits and great environment. If you are looking to start in the industry and advance your career or looking for a change within the industry, DATCU is the place to go. With DATCU being consistently named as one of the best companies to work for in Texas, I feel very fortunate.
- Justin Hess - Assistant Branch Manager, Aubrey
I started at DATCU four years ago as a Personal Service Representative, and was later promoted to a Personal Service Representative II position. Within my current position, I am able to implement new ideas for my department that will facilitate current procedures while also assisting with the training of new employees. I currently serve as the chair of the outreach committee for DATCU. In this position, I visit our business partners and provide onsite services for their employees. With this committee, DATCU gives me the opportunity to better serve the underserved market in our area. With the support of DATCU, I have also been given the opportunity to serve my community as the current Executive Vice President of LULAC. I feel very fortunate that throughout the years I have been given many opportunities for career advancement and the opportunity to give back to my community. At DATCU, I have always found that there are no limitations to the knowledge that I can acquire, and I feel very fortunate that every day I am able to better myself!
- Adriana Hinojosa - Personal Service Representative
DATCU has been my home away from home. Istarted as a part-time teller in Lewisville and went on to earn my associates degree from NCTC. Currently, I am working as the Assistant Branch Manager in Lewisville and working on my bachelor’s degree at TWU. DATCU not only encourages us to better ourselves, they promote from within. DATCU has given me the opportunity to embrace my community by allowing me to volunteer for organizations on their behalf. While other companies are cutting costs, DATCU continues to pay 100% of our health and dental insurance. In the 13 years that I have been here, we have never had any layoffs. I can honestly say that I am a better me because of DATCU. I am inspired and encouraged each day by my peers. I love my DATCU!!!
- Frances Al-Waely - Assistant Branch Manager, Lewisville
I have been with DATCU for a little over seven years. I knew when I walked in the door that this would be the place for me. The people were friendly and welcoming to everyone that walked in the door. The stability here was outstanding. People that work here had been here for 15-20 years. I knew that happiness had to follow that, with people that loved their jobs so much they were here to stay. My top story that I love to tell is the day that I accepted my job at DATCU, I was offered another job. It seemed to be a golden package, but it just did not offer the warmth. The company that I turned down was in the newspaper the next week as the place that everyone wanted to work at and the place you would like to be. Well, that just did not convince me that they could offer me happiness. I carried on with DATCU and the day that I celebrated my one year anniversary with DATCU, that “golden company” closed its doors and laid off all their employees. I am happy to still be a part of a family that loves you, who you are, what you do and share that same love with each of its members.
- Tamika David - Branch Manager, The Colony
I’ve been at DATCU for 21 years. I started out in New Accounts and now I am a Senior VP overseeing Marketing, Human Resources, Business Development and Training. I love my job and the people I work with. DATCU is like my second home and my co-workers are my second family. DATCU offers great benefits and a wonderful working environment.
- Becky Sylvera - Sr. Vice President of Human Resources, Training and Development and Marketing
I’ve worked at DATCU since January, 1980. It was my senior year in high school and knew I didn’t have any interest in going to college so, I needed to look for a job that would have a future. Being a DECA student, I was able to go to school a half day and work a half day. My day was one class (7:30-8:30 a.m.) then to work. I lacked ˝ an hour a day being full time. Upon graduation, May 1980, I became full time with benefits.
I started as a lobby teller and transferred to the loan dept. in the spring of 1980 and that’s where I still am. I’ve been a teller, loan processor, supervisor, I helped develop and establish the Teleservice center and the Central Lending dept. In addition, I served on many committees and have had the opportunity to go into the community to speak to groups of all ages about the credit union and financial education.
I can’t imagine working anywhere else. DATCU (co-workers and membership) is my extended family. I love the people I work with and the members I serve daily.
- Elizabeth Crews - Loan Operations Assistant
I have worked at DATCU for nearly 22 years...that says a lot! There is definitely a feeling of family at the credit union. I was a banker in my previous life...the term Better Than A Bank really sums it up!
- Sue Shaw - Loan Officer
